Program Overview
Join Sarah Owen for a 2.5 hour Yin Yoga and Deep Relaxation (Yoga Nidra) workshop. This quietly introspective Yin Yoga workshop will include practices to compassionately awaken the body, heart and mind. We will practice conscious breathing (Pranayama), physical postures (Asana), mindful breath meditation (Anapanasati), and deep conscious relaxation (Yoga Nidra). By the end of the workshop you will feel deeply nourished, restored and inspired.
Yin Yoga is a restorative style of yoga that uses long-held, passive poses to nourish the connective tissues in the body, promoting greater physical flexibility, organ health and peace of mind. This workshop explores ways to keep the energetic body active and resilient, resulting in vibrant health and higher energy levels, while the Yin Yoga sequence does not deplete the body of energy at all.
Yoga Nidra, also known as ‘yogic sleep’, is a deep relaxation practice that works directly on the energetic body, inducing a state of wakeful calm and deep rest. Yoga Nidra is one of the practices of pratyahara, where the awareness is internalised. Literally, Yoga Nidra means ‘psychic sleep’ – sleep with full awareness. In the practice of Yoga Nidra, the body sleeps but the mind remains awake listening to the instructions. In psychology, the state achieved in Yoga Nidra is termed the hypnogogic state, a state between sleep and wakefulness.
